Well I know I am jumping the gun but I had to see what the weather men were predicting for opening weekend. I know that most of the time they are wrong but I like what I see so far (except for the humidity)... Saturday: Cloudy, thunderstorms; humid high 80 Sunday: Cloudy, thunderstorms; humid; high 0f 82 Let's hope that the temperatures at least remain in this range, they have to get something right once in a while ;D

...jumping the gun but I had to see what the weather men were predicting for opening weekend. I know that most of the time they are wrong but I like what I see so far ... I wouldn't be too concerned this far in advance. The fluid dynamics of weather is quite nonlinear and precision beyond 10 or more days is mathematically impossible (E. Lorenz, 1969.) Besides, by the 25th, there could be a major hurricane that isn't even a tropical depression yet. Curse those Brazilian butterflies!

Yes, we were hearing last night about this new tropical depression that is forming...curses! Lots of speculations out there, one in particular about it taking the same or similar route to Hurricane Connie (1955) which moved up the bay and into Delaware...*sigh* Of course, one never knows with this stuff, so guess we'll just wait 'n' see, huh?

Yup, they changed their minds already; I wonder how many times the forecast will change... Sat: Couple of thunderstorms, high 90 Sun: Humid with partial sun; high 92. .....I think I like the first forecast better

...Yup, they changed their minds already; I wonder how many times the forecast will change... It isn't so much changing their minds as much as the improved accuracy and precision of the model predictions with the decrease in projection time. We're still too far away for the forecasts to be reasonable (except for general trends, such as, it's more likely to be hot and humid than snowy and frigid)) By next Tuesday's forecast, I think you can be reasonable secure in its accuracy. Of course, we can't know next Tuesday's forecast until next Tuesday. It doesn't look like Dean is going to be much of a threat, but that could also change by next week. You know how it is with Navier-Stokes nonlinearities!

Bring on the rain! It keeps out the riff raff...and I have an old pair of Corchoran II jump boots that still have Revel Grove mud on them from the hurricane remnants of last year!

Partly cloudy, 94. :)Yes! The prediction has been going up each day for the last few. Do we hear 95, or even 97? THAT'S weather to start faire by. A day when gathered early for the opening tailgate, you can feel that it's gonna be a hot one. When you're already starting to feel the effects of dehydration by quarter of 10, before the gate show has even started. A day when the sweat pouring off of Steve's head is enough to generously water the as yet untrampled grasses, and he can be followed all day by the path of greenery that sprouts forth behind him. Hopefully we'll get some decent humidity, too- for that unescapable hot in the shade feel. When with every laboured breath you can feel the ladened weight of the air, heavy with moisture and dust. It's blazing on the shadeless joust pitch, yet it's stifling under the breeze blocking awnings at the Whitehart. A day when every bodice you hug is damp, every forearm you grasp is slick, and every tepid mug of cider slowly drips a pool of condensation beneath it. Bring it on!!! And then give us three straight days of it next weekend, too. THAT'S weather to start faire by. The 85 and scattered T-storms currently guessed for Sunday is wuss-weather.

Thank you Andy m'friend for making me spit coffee all over m'monitor. As for the path of green behind me. . . might not just be sprouts, depending upon what I've digested the night before. . . .

The NOAA forecast for Crownsville, as of today, is Saturday: Partly cloudy and hot, with a high near 97. Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. Sunday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a high near 88. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 68.
"Scattered showers" means that they will be localized. And the 30% probability, 5 days out, is pretty close to "who knows?" I'm more not looking forward to the upper 90's on Saturday.

I was really hoping the weather would stay how it has been the past couple of days but Sat sounds miserable . Looking at the weather reports it will be a real feel of 99 degree. The SDW may have to hold a wet bodice contest...... ;D and a gallon of water on Saturday...

The SDW may have to hold a wet bodice contest...... Now what would the point of that be? Surely a wet chemise contest would keep the fans happy, may get the cider flowing, and would certainly keep you ladies cooler. But really a wet bodice is somewhat less interesting than a wet pair of bluejeans....

Very true a wet chemise would be much better entertainment :'(but I was referring to your comment about the wet bodice hug.... :Dand cider and maybe a bee sting.....

Ah, now that logic I can understand.
Come to think of it, a recently rinsed bodice would make that hug more appealing, wouldn't it?

Call me a wimp, I guess...but I will persevere and do my very best! We WILL be there if all goes well!! Kendall has tempted with me..."We'll stick around as long as we can and if it gets too bad then we can go back to our hotel, shower, have drinks, lovin', and Chinese food..." Man, it doesn't get any better than that!!

If it's going to be a hot n' sticky one.. the good ol stand by black corset may just be the attire for the day... I don't know if I can deal with layers that first day if it's going to be that bloody hot... Ugh I had Dew-midity...
But I'll be there - sweaty mess n' all!!!!

Crownsville, MD (21032)
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STERLING VIRGINIA HAS ISSUED A HEAT ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM EDT SATURDAY.
TEMPERATURES WILL BEGIN TO CLIMB INTO THE MID 90S BEFORE NOON...REACHING NEAR 100 DEGREES SATURDAY AFTERNOON. WHEN COMBINED WITH THE HIGH HUMIDITY... THE HEAT INDICES AROUND 105 ARE EXPECTED.
A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE POSSIBLE. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS... STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.Take care of yourselves out there. Plenty of fluids, stay in the shade, and get thee to AC when you need (and I don't mean a car in the parking lot). If you let yourself get heat exhaustion (or worse) tomorrow, you will have only yourself to blame. Do not do it, no matter how long it's been since you've been to faire. IT IS NOT WORTH GETTING SICK FOR. Don't be stupid....
