huzzah Stupid question of the day: I'm planning on buying the fairever pass this year. as I have never bought one before, where do you get them at? Go to the MDRF website (www.renfest.com)...they have ticket info and prices. For the fairever pass, you can either get them at the gate, or, to get them ahead of time (the best bet, IMHO), contact the faire at info@rennfest.com. When we got ours last year, it was our first year of buying a fairever pass...and it was also the first year that a photo was required for the pass (at least I think it was the first time)...it was incredibly easy...we emailed pics of hubby and myself (separate, of course) to the above mentioned email address, with our request for 2 fairever passes. We included our names, addresses, and phone #s. We were called back within 1 day from the festival office, whereupon our credit card info was requested. Hubby provided the info...we received our fairever passes within just a few days. I'm assuming they're doing this the same way this year...for more clarification (just in case I've misinformed you on something or on the chance that things have been altered a bit), consult with Black Fox here...he's the man "in the know." Hope this helps!

huzzah Stupid question of the day: I'm planning on buying the fairever pass this year. as I have never bought one before, where do you get them at? Go to the MDRF website (www.renfest.com)... Actually, the Maryland Ren Fest site is www.rennfest.com (the reason for the misspelling is that 'renfest' was already taken. I think that the currently posted information is about last year (except that the dates are 2008), but prices don't change all that much if at all. There is still plenty of time to order your Fairever pass. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there is going to be another special/chance to win some things, etc. like last season (I don't have any information about this---just pure speculation.) Just keep checking from time to time. It is still a bit early for 2008 information. Planning, getting requests, auditions, contracting, and so forth are very much underway and will be for the next couple of months. Usually, information begins to show up on the Web site in late Spring to mid Summer.

Well...one step closer...not that any of you are really interested, but it's a major milestone for us...yeppers, that means (you guessed it!) we broke down yesterday and made our lodging arrangements for the FULL season of MDRF in 2008! Of course, we might not make EVERY weekend...after last season, we WILL make wise choices about which weekends to attend ("are there extreme heat advisories?" "do we have to worry about getting carted out of Revel Grove in an ambulance due to heat stroke?")...and Labor Day weekend MAY or MAY NOT be a go for us (hey, what can I say? The "big guy" loves his UVA football...and the kick off game is that Saturday...playing USC...hah, we KNOW UVA is gonna get creamed, but hey, it's USC!)...but there is still a possibility of us making it for at least a portion of that weekend (it's still closer to travel from Charlottesville to Crownsville than ESVA to Crownsville)...but it is just such a WONDERFUL feeling to know that our rooms are booked, we managed to get EVERY weekend in Annapolis this year (first time ever!!), although not every weekend at the same hotel...so we're one step closer to our beloved ren festival! Next'll come the buying of the fairever pass...I imagine MDRF will let us know (on their website, of course) when we can begin to place our ticket orders? BF, any idea of when that might be? Anyway...I'm getting geared up again (god help me!) and feeling pretty grand about seeing all of you guys at Revel Grove SOOOON!!! Been missin' y'all...but particularly my fellow SDW's!! Sam, Jenn...can't wait to have a brew with ya!! Love to you all!!

Something's Afoot! This very day As I drove to Annapolis,as I approached the Crownsville exit on 97S. my car kept pulling to the right, obviously being drawn by some unseen spirit. It was a fight to keep the car headed south on 97 past the Crownsville exit. Could it be that the Tree Spirits of Revel Grove have grown tired of all that peace and quiet? or the spirits that are currently inhabiting the White heart, boars head,O'shucks, the Dragon and the many ale booths are wanting to raise a glass with an un-disembodied spirit? Or perhaps one of those bonnie Angels has been stuck in that big spider web up in the trees all winter? Or maybe the Spirit of Merriment is beginning to awaken. ah well ,all that is left to do is mow the lawn at caer fyreblaste whist consuming some honey moon, smithwicks and Killians Ale and taking the occassional mornfull glance at my 2 new tankards that must wait 82 more days to be properly christened with Revel grove ale. But properly christened they shall be! Huzzah!

One thing that you could do to help pass the time until Revel Grove reawakens is to come up to Baltimore and see King Henry in person, along with his daughter the Lady Mary, Sheriff Middle J. Middle of Revel Grove, and Thomas Manners Earl of Rutland in the critically acclaimed comedy, "Polish Joke". Information is available at www.spotlighters.org or elsewhere on these boards. Or ask any of the Playtrons who came to play with us this past weekend.

I may go to this show the weekend of 6/21-22. I hope there is parking nearby, seems every time I venture into that city beyond russel street I get lost Hello, Fyre, There is usually some street parking (it is mainly a residential neighborhood) but that is in an urban sense. There are also pay parking lots nearby, an outdoor one at Read and Charles (a block to the west of the theater) and an indoor one at the Baltimore Sun on Calvert, near Madison (a few blocks to the southeast.) We have almost always found street parking within a block or two. A warning though----Saturday, June 21, is Gay Pride day in Baltimore, with a mid-afternoon (4-6 PM) parade, followed by an evening block party. Both are on Charles Street, a block to the west of St. Paul (where the theater is) and so parking could turn out to be a complete nightmare. The Sunday matinee (June 22 at 2 PM) should have much better parking. Of course, if you come in garb that Saturday, then you could come early and watch the parade and no one will notice---you'll blend right in.

You know, all you people who are jonesing terribly for MDRF could come down to VARF in the next two weeks and see Captain Fletcher Moone, Son of Strum, Shashenka and more, all while drinking cider in garb with your friends from MDRF. Sir Black Fox, Scotsman and Master Will Roberts have all been down and can vouch for the quality of the beer, entertainment, company, cider and beer.

you know until 2006 I lived in va beach for 25 years and could never find a ren faire in va,the cloest thing being the scottish festival in Newport News, now that Im in tax hell, va has a faire, go figure! So where at in VA is it? Lake Anna Winery, south of Fredericksburg. Directions hereIt's a small faire, mostly tent, $7 to get in, all of three stages for shows. Our strength is patron interaction, which is to say that the grief you get at MDRF coming through the main gate right after cannon from Nymblewycke and others follows you around all day at VARF. The Richmond Times-Dispatch just did an article on us, where they quoted a patron describing the experience as being "like Jamestown on crack". Captain Moone is there for the whole run, as is Son of Strumm (Jonathan Strumm's son), Shashenka and others, and you'll more than likely spot more than a few faces you recognize in the pub. As far as finding a ren faire in VA, this faire was only truly "findable" between 1994 and 1998, when it had a permanent home, hundreds of thousands of dollars behind it, and was owned by the same company that owns Tux and RPFS. The current faire was set up by some of the local employees who were cut loose when REC decided to close the faire and who weren't ready to quit working faire just yet.

I'm glad Fyreblaste asked where the VA faire was...I knew it was NOWHERE near where we are, but I didn't know where the Lake Ana Winery was...now I know...'tis about 4.5 hours from us. Thanks, Wil, for setting that straight. How odd that in a state with so much history and history-consciousness, Virginia really is pretty much in a Ren-faire drought. Congrats on your mention in the Richmond Times-Dispatch and good luck to all of you with the VA faire. I hope it continues to grow and thrive. Can't wait to see everybody at MDRF!! (You know you're in severe withdrawal when you start DREAMING about faire...it happened to me last night...I think I recall some folks here experiencing the same phenomenon last year around this time...*insert "Twilight Zone" theme music here*)

I didn't think you could go 4.5 hours to the east of Spotsylvania county without landing in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean somewhere. I thought Hampton/VA Beach was only two hours away at most, and you've dang (not the Lt.)ed near run out of Virginia to be in by that point.
