I know some folks live far (like us) and some very close (like Magpie), but what would be the point that breaks you. . . even though you have a faireeverpass (most-likely). . . . or do you just cut back on drinks and food at faire to try and make up the difference?

I've already cut out other things to try and even out the price to go to faire. If it reaches $5 or more though I don't think I'll be able to swing every weekend. DERN gas prices!!

Agreed. I work for a vendor, so as long as people keep coming so will I.

The Holy Cow is a leathersmithe's shop. Stop by and say hi- we're across from the climbing wall.

We'll be there whatever the price is. We'll just have to make up for the rising costs during the week. We won't be eating out as much and will try harder to combine trips. Since we work at Earthenware, we really don't have much choice. But really, even if we didn't work at Faire, we'd find some way to get there. It is such a wonderful part of our lives. We look forward to it all year. I'd rather give up something else than give up even one day of Faire.

Cost of gas vs. faire really doesn't bother me, except for days like this Saturday when Myrddin will be working and we will have to both drive to faire (I'll come in the morning, he will be there for pub sing). If anyone lives in/near Catonsville and wants to talk about carpooling, let me know.

Carpooling where ever possible is absolutely a good thing. Please.. if your near anyone of your fairemaly you know, talk about it, consider it and try it. I started it this year with Scribbles & her hubby and it seems to be working out great so far. Cost of gas vs. faire really doesn't bother me, except for days like this Saturday when Myrddin will be working and we will have to both drive to faire (I'll come in the morning, he will be there for pub sing). There was no option for "NEVER" Okay, perhaps that's overstating it, but really, it'd take an awful lot to keep me from faire. If gas gets too expensive we might cut down to one or two visits to faire rather than 3 or 4 but that all depends on other bills and folks who'll be going with us as well, not only on gas prices. Conservation aside, it's hard to put a price on a faire weekend, at practically any cost it's well worth it to us.

sanvean, I go right past catonsville to get to faire..if you want I could pick you up. let me know. or I'd love it if you could pick me up on Saturday morning - I'll buy you a cider/beer/drink when we get to faire! I live right off of Route 40, about 2.5 miles from the 695 exit. Is that OK?

Since I have a place to stay near the faire, the price of gas want affect my faire attendence much. I may have to cut back on the ale a bit. If I had drive round trip each day, I'd probably drop to one day a weekend at about the $5.00 mark.

Joelle, which way do you go to Faire from Norfolk?
Sadly, I had to vote for $4/gallon, and at $3.74 at my neighborhood Exxon, it's getting scary. Full tank round trip, and have to fill up when I get back home to have gas for the week, which at $4/gallon makes it $88 per visit.
Starting to regret those Fairever passes now...

Sadly, as a broke college student whose main sources of income are a part time deli job and Daddy Dearest, gas prices affect me in hideous hideous ways. Especially now that I have to buy a new phone, as the old one was stolen. :-( Needless to say, I may not be able to hit faire as often this year.

Depends on what time of day we leave here. If we think we'll hit rush hour around DC we'll head up the Eastern Shore but otherwise it's usually 64 to 95...etc. We always get a campsite and make a weekend of it too. We're planning on attending the 1st and 2nd weekends in October. Were planning on attending the final weekend too, but there's a family thing in Albuquerque we'll probably be going to. (My youngest brother deploys to Iraq the 1st of November so we're doing a family reunion sorta thing.) I'm trying to figure out how we could possibly get everything packed on the motorcycle but just don't think it'll work out. (definitely thinking about investing in a trailer for the cycle though) 50mph vs 23 mph is no contest! So far it hasn't gotten terribly bad for gas around here. I paid 3.09 for mid-grade today. That was on base, but Sam's Club was only a few pennies higher. It was interesting how much higher the gas prices got the closer I got to the beach!

I drive 120 mile round trip and without traffic (or police) I can get 20mpg and diesel at $3 so that’s $18 a trip now but at $5 a gallon that’s $30 each day or $60 per weekend or $570 a season. Still right now I expect to pay $350 just in fuel for this season. Still worth the trip.
