As listed/announced by my wonderful wife:
Saturday, November 20 · 7:00pm - 9:30pm
Gadsby's Tavern Restaurant .
138 N Royal St
Alexandria,VA22314
(703) 548-1288
Oh I forgot you can wear Pirate garb, colonial, ren, or normal everyday clothes. Clothes of some type are required.
You will be paying for your own dinner. Sorry.
A few notes:
0) This does conflict with Renstock Redux. My apologies. My birthday is always around Thanksgiving, and in the middle of trying to work around people who would be out of town, we picked a bad date (though there aren't any particularly "good" dates this close to the holidays). If any of you campers happen to remember to drink a toast to my retirement from sleeping outdoors due to allergies, advancing age and sheer wimpery, I'd be honored. ;D
1) Gadsby's Tavern is an honest to Skippy colonial tavern dating back to the late 1700s. Waitstaff are in colonial garb (more or less), and dishes include peanut soup and game pye (rabbit, venison and duck). A minstrel often visits customers at their tables, performing on his lute guitar. Very similar to the Kings Arms at Colonial Williamsburg (including the prices).
2) While normally I wear colonial garb for this restaurant, none of my colonial/F&I clothing fits any more (not to mention that very few of my friends have garb for this period), so the suggested dress code is pirate - the time period fits, more or less, and pretty much everybody has pirate garb. However, if you don't have it/don't want to wear it/are just dying to wear your new Stormtrooper outfit, feel free - just be prepared to get a different kind of weird stare from unsuspecting patrons than the weird stare the rest of us will be getting.
3) We usually arrive a bit early, just to wander around Old Town, shop, and confuse people who think we are part of the Ghost Tour. While this can also be done after dinner, there are usually fewer people about to confuse.
All are welcome. None are obligated. Old Town Alexandria is quite the schlep for most of you.
