As with every weekend at MDRF, there are special events happening that aren't on the published schedule because they've just been finalized or they are significant to that special weekend.
To get the most up-to-date schedule, see the beautiful ladies in the Information Gazebo located dead center on The Queen's Path across from Dragon Wings.
Events like the Caber Toss, a list of guest bagpipers, and more are on the updated daily schedule.
See you Saturday!

Events like the Caber Toss, a list of guest bagpipers, and more are on the updated daily schedule. See you Saturday! I'm THOROUGHLY bummed that we will not make Celtic weekend AGAIN this year! I'm a very "Celtic-minded" person and love all things Celtic. Last year we couldn't attend due to work issues...this year, the day has been moved up a little and is, thanks to Mother Nature, falling on a weekend where life-sucking temps and humidity are going to abound. We've both been under the weather, haven't fully recovered, and just can't put up with another weekend of high temps and humidity. It's a bit of a haul for us up and back, which is draining enough, not to mention the drain on the ol' wallet for lodging. We have opted, sadly, to forego this coming weekend and promise to return next weekend, when the forecasts (albeit early for true accuracy) are indicating much cooler and comfortable temps. I don't want to get turned off of attending faire for ANY reason, including the fact that neither of us have seemed to have much energy due to heat and health issues (except for the occasional outbursts brought on by many beestings.) Somebody, fill me in next weekend on how wonderful Celtic weekend was and take lots of photos. This was ONE weekend where I said we definitely HAD to attend this year...however, when all is said and done, I think we are making the right decision by staying home, resting up, recuperating more fully, and avoiding the loathesome weather by have a/c access. We don't want to get burned out on MDRF, particularly so early in the season...and the aforementioned negative things, I believe, have had much to do with the lackluster feel we've experienced at festival so far this season. Everyone enjoy Celtic weekend!! See you NEXT week!

Among the special guests, Nero's Fiddle, www.myspace.com/nerosfiddle5, a wonderfully talented and entertaining group of women will be down from Ontario to perform, Celtic Weekend only! It is well worth getting the schedule and catching their act.

My brother is coming out Saturday for a bit o' fun this weekend so I'll have to drag him over for the caber toss...
Kind of a bummer it won't be a drizzly day like last year - no splattering mud... boooooo ... but at least there's no chance for anyone participating to slip, fall and hurt themselves because of mud n' rain...
.... what I'd give for a cool, drizzily rain like Ireland for a day....
