This year we have had a lot of international interest besides the local. Crews from Thailand, Japan and Russia have been to fair so far. Univision (US spanish network) was onsite this weekend and as a fluent spanish speaker, I had the task to help them understand what is fair and what MDRF was about.
In terms of papers, it seems someone from the Washington Post is there every weekend. This Friday morning, several performers will be on a radio morning show.
On other side of the spectrum is the Baltimore Sun who in an article dealing with the Anne Arundel County Fair, printed the following: "The fair, a nonprofit, also has the challenge of competing with the Maryland Renaissance Fair. The two share an entrance, and the Renaissance Festival, which used to end by Labor Day has been extended until October to accommodate its increasing popularity."
MDRF has not ended on Labor Day for a long time if it ever did.

You know how I stand on that marvelous publication...er, I mean, the Baltimore Sun...I can't believe they want to say that MDRF is in competition with the Anne Arundel County Faire...its like saying that America's Cup Yacht Racing is in competition with Bass Fishing Tournaments, or that Ruth's Chris Steak House is in competition with Hardy's...the two events draw entirely different clientele...and last time I looked, when approaching from the north, anyway, you get to the entrance to the bass tournament, er, I mean, the Anne Arundel County Faire a long time before you get to the MDRF entrance. In the interest of not violating my philosophy of not mixing politics with faire (well, mostly), I have removed certain adjectives from this post, and apologise for my "lapse"... Cheers!

not to mention, it's only ONE of two enterances. there's another out on the main road. It's idiots like that editor/report/newspaper that start to cause problems for the MDRF.

It never has ended on Labor day, even when the festival only went for Six weekends, it has always started the weekend before Labor day. Gotta love the clueless media.

Was that the guy with the professional-looking videocamera who was walking with you in the direction of the gate? I presumed he was some sort of media person (which is the primary reason I reveranced as we passed )

Wouldn't it be awesome if people checked their references and information before publishing something in the news? I guess I expect wayyyyy too much from the media. Sigh...

it was. Now I am trying to find out how to see how I can get to see the program. The show is DC Latino and it is supposed to air this Saturday at 10am. I was going to record it but they do not show it here in Harford County.
