This one for you Facebook users --- I believe you need to be logged in to see it. For several days last season, filmmakers shot a documentary called "Hart O Faire" at MDRF. There's a new 4-minute HD trailer now online. www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1019105240226While you're there, add "Hart O Faire" to your friends to get new updates on the docu. And add me too --- just got dragged into Facebook over the weekend. Great fun!

You know Fred, that was so true what you said about faire wenches being proud to be called that. I'm not in the guild, (I'm actually a little shy) but still, I've always been proud to call myself a wench. You should see the shocked looks I get from mundanes in the real world when I try to explain that very concept to them. The fact that the word doesn't have negative connotations for me. Funny story....(I think I told this somewhere before) Once I was at a chiropractor appt. Dr. "B" is a very amiable man who likes to chit chat, and somehow or other the subject of faire came up. He asked me what the family was doing for the weekend. When I mentioned we were going to faire, it must have intrigued him, as he started asking all sorts of questions. At one point in the conversation, something prompted him to say, in a tongue-in-cheek kind of way, something along the lines of "well, I'm not gonna say the word I want to say, what women were called back then." Without skipping a beat, I said, "Oh, you can call me a wench if you want to, don't worry it's not offensive, it's not a dirty word." He was actually speechless for a moment. As I tried to explain it to him, most of the people in the room looked at me like I'd just beamed down from somewhere. I found the whole thing quite amusing.
