So...Once upon a time I left MD for WV. I lived in a small town called Sutton that boasted a brilliant maker of Meade! He even gave me a tour and tastes straight out of his fermentation barrels! He makes honey wine in all sorts of flavors. He raises his own bees and uses fruit from his orchard! You literally have to 4whl it across a large stream to get to his house! ;D Let me tell you, and my closest friends will attest: That this meade is thick and made proper! I would say that it is the best I have ever had...and I've drank (drunk?) a WHOLE lotta meade. So! Please check out Kenco Farms: www.rtol.net/kencofarms/Tell John that Bethany sent you and he'll sell to you at $9.00 a bottle and ship it to you! or you can call him at 304-765-7980 .....and -do- share the wealth, eh?

I've never had honey wine... and I've always wanted to try it... And I'm dead close to WV...

I would highly recommend his wine. It's...like drinking ambrosia! Actually, there are a lot of good wines in WV

I ADORE meade and will DEFINITELY check this guy's supply out! We cannot find, much less purchase and enjoy, meade in the area where we live...we usually have to travel to the Va. Beach area of Virginia (about 1.5 hours from our home) in order to find meade at all...and the meades I have found, so far, have not been very good...verily, I say unto you (yes, I'm being silly this a.m.)...the best I've had so far is at MDRF! But I will keep an open mind (and palate!) Thanks for the link and info!

My ex made meade one year, using corn syrup instead of honey...it wasn't TERRIBLE, as it was his first try...all of our low-down, alcoholic friends enjoyed it! (But for them not to enjoy anything with alcohol would take some doing!)

Medieval Meade (meade sold at Faire) is sour compared to his stuff. And you're welcome.

I make mead, but won't hav a batch ready for consumption until next summer. I purchase my honey from The Bee Folks at festival. They are over in Mt. Airy so it isn't all that bad of a drive. Especially when you think of how much it cost to mail a 60 lb. bucket of honey.
