I recall the sign language interpreter "getting into the act" during the Hack and Slash Ale Extravaganza on deaf awareness weekend two years ago, back when they were still at the Royal/Johnny Fox stage. The time came for Slash (I think) to shoot the pistol at the tankard, and when he fired, the interpreter fell over and lay there, pretending to be killed by the shot. The laughter stopped the show for a full minute, and both performers seem completely surprised and at a loss for words (something you won't see very often). I'm not sure if they have continued to do this, but if so, it's definitely something to watch for next weekend.

Well, from someone who studied American Sign Language in college, it was probably the best way for her to show the deaf audience what was going on. the shock factor and applause were just an added bonus. I haven't made it to Deaf Awareness weekend since I was in college 4 years ago so I don't know if they still do it or not.

I have seen many interpreters dragged into a show as they are right there and the sign is sometimes a fun thing. Our maybe interpreter was at the festival this Labor Day and she looked like she wanted to get up and join in.

Okay I almost had to run to the privvy yesterday during the HackNSlash show warm up... OMG! "Blind-folded Naked Lobster Licking!" Slash kept saying it over and over because it was just so dang funny!! We attended the show at 3. And the lady for Slash gave him a sell phone!!! There just aren't enough smilieys for how much I love the cell phone token. On a pretty cool note I was able to get a picture with Slash by myself (No kids) and Hack! (Cravan let me snuggle up close with "Pookie!" - I love that man. Cravan not just Hack. )
