Just making sure everyone knows. This will be a garbbing, antiquing, pubbing, and ghost hunting field trip. It will be all day. I'm guessing we will all meet up there around 10 ish (9 for you slow pokes!) in front of the museum building.

I'll bring our FoMDRF.org flag. . .and it will reside in the pub with the men as the ladies do their thing. . .of course once drunk, we menfolk might wander off to the battle field and attempt to be arrested by Park Rangers.

Anyone coming from the Columbia area (or passing through it on the way) that could carpool? I'd rather not drive by myself...

a new big question.... would Dec 4th work better for anyone? Not change anything? Who cares, it's the weekend still and I'm coming? I want to go on up there just simply for Christmas Shopping...and get a gazzillion metal bones again for my garb projects. I also would love to go on to the battlefields, do a nice little history field trip and then leave the guys at the pub. If anyone needs a car ride, I can take three-four other people in my car. I'm very close to the VA/MD border (so if anyone is coming over American Legion bridge anyways...). No matter which day we choose, we should set a time and place to meet up. (synchronize watches....) Perhaps at the Eisenhower house? It's all decorated in period decor for Christmas starting on the 1st. Or we can even delay this until the 10/11 when a living history (re-encatment) group will be there as well. www.gettysburg.com/ for more info.

Yes, I also love Gettysburg. I've been going there since I was a young I should be able to make it on the 3rd, if that date holds up. I live in Pasadena, so if anyone in the general vacinity might need a lift, let me know.

I couldn't make it on the 4th, but would love to come on the 3rd. I'm coming from the Columbia area, and would like to carpool, even if I end up taking my car (more fun with people in the car)

as long as you don't get into a fight with the ghosts, that fine. Great, the possibility of getting into a fight with my own ghost (...the Florida Brigade took about 67% casualties on the southern end of Pickett's line...). Would love to make this...the 3rd or 4th works...are we talking the main museum building, across from the cemetary?

I'm good for the 3rd : - ) Just need the time, and place to meet verified. Also, if anyone wants to go up with me, let me know. I've driven to Gettysburg more times than I can count, so I can try it blindfolded this time also if you want ; - )

I'm looking into the ghost walk right now. However, I need a FINAL count by the 11th. We'll be there most of the day on the 3rd but this will be pretty late at night. (I'm guessing between 9-11) You do not have to go on the ghost walk, the final count is only for that (the shops don't really care how many people prance around, lol). IM, PM, or post to me here. I'm up all night. :-)

Okay, how does show up around 10 (9 for those that are consitantly late. :-) ) at the main square? I figure just make a day of it. Around 3 or 4, I'm sure everyone will be "shopped out" and we can start the various tours. I'm still trying to get more info on the ghost walk but it looks like it will be at 9:00 at night. If anyone else would like to sign up for it, please pm me or reply in my LJ or something to let me know if you'd like to join it. It should be fun.

Sounds good to me--does anyone have good directions? I've been there once, years ago, and my brother-in-law drove... (would still like to carpool if anyone is passing through the Columbia area, or I can drive a bit to meet up somewhere)

I really need an accurate head count. I've been told that a few of you have "forgotten" and "made other plans" (odd how that seems to always happen...hmmm..) If you DO NOT respond by Thursday, I won't know whom to wait for at the square. Also, It's probably a good idea to exchage phone numbers and the like so PM, IM, or call me for more details.

we had a very fun trip on saturday. much shopping was accomplished (I have a hoop skirt now!) and I found a very old manual sewing machine that I'm still tempted to buy... Jubilee, her friend and I met up at the visitor's center (since i didn't know where the main square was, but now I do). It was a beautiful clear day, freezing cold but no precipitation so that was good. We had lunch at the pub in Gettysburg, walked to many of the local shops, found patterns and dolls and all sorts of things. so the rest of you can just be sad you didn't come join us And come with us next time!
