Okay, now that I have your attention.... ;D
I really want to sew myself a new chemise before the start of the season (I know I'm pushing it here, but I have heard that chemises are pretty easy). I have two that I have bought but they are long-sleeved and I'm going to die in the heat.
I am totally new to sewing. I have a machine, but I don't have a really good handle on how to work it. I was going to enroll in a beginner sewing class at JoAnn's, but my hubby is gone on business and I need to look after my two-year-old.
So, here's where the "Help!" comes in... I was hoping there was a Rennie in the Baltimore area (I live in Arbutus) that could give me some lessons and guidance on my first garb project. I am a stay at home mom so my time is pretty flexible. I could pay you by the hour to help me out (just name your price) and I'll make you lunch or dinner while you are imparting you sewing knowledge on to me.... I'd like to do the lessons at my house because of my daughter. If you have children, you are welcome to bring them along. Also, if you could accompany me to JoAnn’s or any other fabric store you prefer to help me pick out appropriate fabric and notions, that would be a huge help… I’m clueless here. I did go check out patterns at JoAnn’s the other night, but I only found one chemise pattern and it had long sleeves. As a beginner I don’t feel too comfortable altering patterns to my needs. I’d be super-afraid to totally screw it up and not be able to fix it.
Anyone interested? If you send me a private message with your e-mail address I’ll reply to you later on tonight.
Thanks!
