Okay, so I think the answer is pretty obvious and y'all out there are gonna be getting pretty sick and tired of me always yammering on here and posting all the time and ESPECIALLY about this darned weapons thing...but I DO have a question... This past week, whilst in an antique shop, Kendall came across a machete with a VERY cool looking hard leather sheath...of course, he would NOT try to take a freakin' machete into faire with him, but now he's going on about wanting to wear the darned sheath for this coming Pirate weekend (I'm sorry...I know it's not "Pirate" weekend officially...but for us, it is)...I have told him that I think he should just hang up the idea of trying to come in with the danged thing on, as he's probably gonna get stopped at the gate, possibly denied entrance with it, and might wind up being stopped and hassled throughout the days at faire. HE (bull-headed) says that the faire management says "no weapons" but that this is NOT a weapon. Should I try to continue to persuade him to give up the attempt or just let him find out for himself OR do any of you out there think that an empty sheath WOULD be permissible and he might not have any real problem? I promise, I will SHUT UP about weapons from here on out...but I just wanted to ask some more "seasoned" Renfolk out there if they knew of management's policy on sheaths, had any first-hand (or second-hand) experience with this situation or whatever...thanks a heap...and please, don't hate me....

I could be wrong, but I don't see why a sheath would be a problem as long as it wasn't holding a weapon. I've seen people with sheaths and variuos weapon-carrying bits, though obviously, there are people who get in sometimes with weapons as well so that may not be indicative of policy.

In the past, people have entered with just the sheath and they would put a rose on it making it obvious there is no weapon.
Oh and for the record, there are no stupid questions among friends.

Hatred is a strong, strong word, lass, and I hardly ever use it except in context...you keep yammerin' all you want, thats what we're here for...I have seen countless empty sheaths wandering about the faire, so I'd say Kendall should be good to go to wear it...

Thanks for the input, friends! Maybe I was being a bit paranoid, given last year's ordeal, and the discussions we've had here recently. I feel better now! *aaah*

The idea of putting a rose in there is a great idea. I've actually seen similar like that.
