Hey BF, thanks so much for sharing your wonderful pics from ren-seasons past with us! They were great to look at, even if we weren't attending MDRF at that time.
The thought occured to me of how similar things are for so many of us who have discovered and grown to love MDRF...that so many of us start from the same humble (and mundane) beginnings. Only a year ago, I still had not been to the White Hart, had only walked past it, had never seen an O'Danny Girls show, and had only just begun enjoying so many of the things we now love at MDRF. I had visited there MANY years ago with my ex (somewhere around 1989, I think), but had never been back (if you've got no one to go with, a 3 hour drive and a weekend away from my hubby wouldn'ta gone over too big.) My first visit to MDRF with Kendall came in the late summer of 2004 and he fell in love with it instantly and my torch was again lit for MDRF.
Thanks to this group here (and our wedding...and yes, people DO get married there..hehe!), last season was the best ever for us at the festival...there is still so much to see and explore and discover, but there are quickly becoming traditions for us...meeting up with friends, hanging at the White Hart, boogeying to the Rogues, etc. We're learning names and faces. I felt so awkward at first being "here" especially when thrown in the company of so many MDRF veterans...but then I see some of Black Fox's captions on his pics and I'm thinking, "Hey, even HE started out not knowing EVERYTHING!" (how is that possible?! ) So I go into a more mellow and zen-like way of looking at all of this...and am now just following the advice of a dear departed friend of mine, who counseled me wisely "Just be thankful for the gift."
I look forward to further discoveries of MDRF and meeting more new friends and seeing old familiar friendly faces. Thanks, BF!!
