Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes...
There have been several changes made to the Maryland Renaissance Festival site for the 2006 season.
As you may have seen in posts a few months back, some of the trees on site were dead and needed to be removed. New trees have been planted.
At the Market Stage Ivy has been planted to increase the shade cover.
More benches have been added throughout the site.
There have been some modifications to the stage at the joust field to accommodate more people.
And the biggest news (IMHO) is the redesign at The White Hart. In order to facilitate additional seating, the front sections of picnic tables and the box have been removed and replaced with stage benches.
Off site many of you are already aware that a favorite rennie hangout, The Ground Round, has closed.
There are several former performers returning for guest appearances. It should be fun to see old friends.
There are other changes, but I (we) have not been given formal permission to release that information. Stay tuned.
Only 8 weeks to go.
(Special thanks to Amethyst for writing up the details)

After walking the site with Ragoth I must say that the changes made this season have vastly improved the overall appearance of the faire. The entrance area where the trees were removed looks wonderful with the new trees and benches that have taken their place. The joust arena will be better suited for royalty/performer interaction now that they have stairs leading from the tower directly to the field. Without a doubt though my favorite change would have to be that of the White Hart as I feel that the placement of the new benches will allow for many more spectators to enjoy the shows without interfering with the flow of the actual pub.

...at The White Hart. In order to facilitate additional seating, the front sections of picnic tables and the box have been removed and replaced with stage benches. I guess seat cushions with one's name on it will have to be used for squatting spots now! LOL Really though, I hope the benches were built on an incline from the stage (like other stage benches) or it'll be tough to see past said squatters!

Just saw some pictures of the site and I think the changes at the White Hart are great. I just hope they put the covers back up. I wonder how fast ivy grows. Hopefully there will be shade at the Sahar er Market Stage within a couple years.

I wonder how fast ivy grows. With all the rain we've been getting, I'd worry it would take over the place! LOL

The covers will be back up, they go back up about 2 weeks before faire begin. As far as the ivy, this was planned last year, and will probably take a year or 2 to get to the point where it is wanted.

One of the great things that boards like ours (including the other site, LOL) is that people can post whatever they'd like to post and members can just pick and choose what they want to see. We posted early photos from 2005 and I felt like my surprise was a bit spoiled. The surprise of MDRF is part of the fun m'thinks. Anyway, post all the photo links you'd like because I know some folks need that MDRF "fix." Oh and welcome aboard!

I thought there was a page on the website that had pictures from before the 2005 season. I can't find it now. And someone using the name 'blackfox' posted to another forum back in April that he would have photos of the new construction as soon as he was allowed to post them. Did you ever get the pictures up for this year?

I misread this a few times. I thought there was a page on the website that had pictures from before the 2005 season. I can't find it now. There were pics from the pre-2005 season but after the season came and went, it seemed a bit moot to keep those photos up. ( . . and it wasted space) And someone using the name 'blackfox' posted to another forum back in April that he would have photos of the new construction as soon as he was allowed to post them. Did you ever get the pictures up for this year? If you'd like to see the new ones, you have tohead over to Lumpy's faire site at: mdrffof.com or friendsofmdrf.com . I'm not sure if you have to sign in or become a member of their boards, but they have a lot of photos and MDRF information. It's another really good MDRF source.

Black Fox sucks like the other site sucks. fine if you dont want to see the photos of fair because I dont care about you. wtf,o? I'm not at all sure if I even understand the source of the anger, but my closest translation is that you're mad that somebody else (somebody not even associated with this site) grabbed the pictures that you in turn grabbed somebody else's web page (or that they grabbed them from the place you got them from before you got a chance to post). When I saw your initial post, I was considering posting a warning about how the owners of some sites feel about people downloading and reposting their photographs (the reaction varies from webmaster to webmaster). Apparently the issue is moot.
