Whats left of the hurricane may moisten us a bit...what the heck, keeps out the riff raff...
Saturday - High 0f 78, Showers Sunday - High of 77, Showers Monday - High of 77, Showers
Some folks from R/F dot com, that other "big" board some of us are on, are visiting PARF this weekend, and will be coming down to visit on Sunday. They are very excited about coming to MDRF!
Figured I better edit this post a bit...our friends at the weather service are saying that the remains of the hurricane will probably dump the majority of rain on western Maryland by the time it reaches here Saturday. This may cause showers here, but it should'nt be too bad...given thats from the weather service, take it for what its worth.

I'll believe it when I feel it. And if it does, I really hope I don't have to park in one of the gullys, I'll never get out!

We may have to build that pirate ship after all if the predictions are accurate. Since I work emergency management through the city of Baltimore I just received word that we may receive as must as 8-10" of rain on Saturday. Crossing fingers that they won't call me into work for flash flooding

Some rain may be fun, but good grief.....

Come Monday- I'll still be at faire. The preview title of this thread was "Labor Day Weekend Show". I somehow had the compulsion to post that despite the fact that even lacking plans to be in San Fransico, I guess I never was meant for glitter, rock'n'roll. That being said, it would seem that the heavy rains this weekend, while possible are rather dependant on Ernesto's track- which at this point is a highly variable thing. It could still easily be lovely. And rain at faire is really only fun after you've become sick of crowds- something we won't see until late September or so.

OOO, Cap'n Duncan told me last year that I won that because I was the only one that actually took my bodice off. Unfortunately, I probably won't make this weekend if it rains. So, good luck ladies...HEHE!!!

Well if there is any kind of good news to share, I just watched the news and they are saying the majority should hit us Thursday night into Friday... that it may linger but those are the two heaviest rain days...
here's to hoping they may actually get it RIGHT this go round!!!

While possibly historically accurate, it's . . . well, very wet. Five pounds of Tudor velvet, all wet. Yuck! On the bright side, once you're wet, you don't really care much after that, so you start to have fun. Downside, sometimes the shows start to cancel. Rain in the early morning might cool things down. I think we're going to try for Sunday.

Hey, Orbs, got your Hushpuppies on?
Latest weather (yes, its true, I come from good farmer stock, thus the fascination with the weather) looking better for this weekend. Tommy Tasselmeyer at WBAL tells us that the heavy stuff will probably happen on Friday night through Saturday morning and ease off by Saturday afternoon.
Saturday - High of 78, scattered showers, Humidity 68%, UV Index 7-High Sunday - High of 82, isolated showers, Humidity 72%, UV Index 6-High Monday - High of 82, isolated showers, Humidity 75%, UV Index 6-High

Well I have started to sweet talk ; okay I admit, downright bribe, my co-worker into working if we get called into an overnight shift. So far he seems agreeable . It is amazing how bribing with alcohol seems to be so darn easy in getting my way hehehe.

But especially alcohol.

Cheers, Amras- I'm glad somebody got that.
But why did you have to go and bring GOES up? Baaad flashbacks, man.
Funny thing about those visible wavelengths, though- they don't show much after sunset.

No the bad flashbacks should be POES for you. But don't get me started on the instrument channels on GOES, that'll bring back baaaaad flashbacks!

Are folks here just adopting a "wait and see" attitude about the weekend's festivities? We'll be traveling about 3 hours to get there and are a little on the fence. We've done the rainy weekend thingy before and some nice rain is a good thing (smaller crowds, cooler temps)...I guess I'm mostly concerned about the condition of the parking areas AND of Revel Grove itself after all of this...anybody got any words of wisdom? I hate to stay home and then have it not turn out to be so bad...but to drive all that way, only to get hopelessly rained out! Guess what I'm asking is, are other folks here in the same predicament as us? What's anybody hearing about the forecast up there? (We're hearing everything from a total deluge and washout for the weekend to periods of heavy rain on Friday night into Saturday am with clearing by Saturday afternoon)...grasshopper needs a little helpful wisdom! Thanks ever so!

I have heard the Friday into Saturday morning, clearing up by mid-afternoon. As far as the condition of the lot and grove, well last year after much rain, LOTS of folks got stuck in the mud of the lot. Do you have a 4 wheel drive? I came with mine one rainy weekend and without another time, and I almost got stuck when I was in my car. I think it all depends on how much you like standing around, but as with any case of Maryland weather...it changes if you just wait long enough.
Ok, this really didn't help...sorry!

I think it all depends on how much you like standing around, but as with any case of Maryland weather...it changes if you just wait long enough. Ok, this really didn't help...sorry! Oh yes you WERE a help! Don't think otherwise! The forecasts are really confusing...to look at things like the Weather Channel and our local (Salisbury, located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, which is about the closest weather station to us here on Virginia's Eastern Shore) stations, everything looks like a total washout for the weekend, with them calling for outrageous amounts of rain. However, when I've checked other sources, like Accuweather.com for Annapolis, specifically, it doesn't look nearly as bad. My main concern IS for the parking lot and the park itself. Nope, darnitall, we don't have any kind of 4-wheel drive or SUV...we drive a Honda Accord or a Toyota Solara...so getting stuck could be a problem. We were there last year during a particularly rainy weekend and thankfully, did NOT get stuck...but ya never know. Right now, we're still planning on attending and I guess we'll "wait and see." Thanks so much, Annabelle!

Bah, I posted but it didn't show up. Yeah, as annabelle said, what I've heard is that it'll become relatively clear by Saturday afternoon. And I'm planning on going that day unless it's just pouring and definitely planning on Sunday (and probably Monday) too. Never had the experience of getting my car stuck in the mud, would like to keep it that way.

Yeah, it looks wet to me. (I wonder if the posted image will auto update?) If I had a three hour drive to faire and had to decide now about attending, I would give Saturday a skip. A quick thunderstorm at faire can be an interesting break- a tropical depression is another thing entirely. Any day at faire with that kind of rain is a cold, wet, messy, miserable experince (unless your thing really is leaping from one mud pile to another)- and the muddy hilly lot out front is all that plus dangerous. Cold, rainy and muddy- any two of these three can still make for a nice enough day at faire. But all three is an excellent arguement to be elsewhere. Keep an eye on the weather on Saturday. If it stops sometime during the day, Sunday and/or Monday could be lovely. But faire in heavy sustained rain is hardly worth driving for.

Word. The drive isn't as long for me, but I am a poor college student who can barely afford gas. So I'll probably skip out on a lot of the rain days. I'm keeping various parts of my body crossed for goodness on Sunday, as that appears to be when I'll be bringing a rather large caravan of people. A light drizzle doesn't scare me, but full out rain deters me pretty well. Especially since I have a certain talent for falling on my ye olde behinde when the mud's out.

Looks like its updating just fine, Orbs...sorry for the flashbacks, my swiss cheese brain forgot.:-) If I'm at fest on Saturday, it'll be up at PARF...Sunday we have lots of R/F dot com folks, from all over, coming down to Revel Grove from up there.

Thanks for the advice, guys! I'll definitely think on it. Kendall thinks maybe he could bring his laptop, get some work done whilst in the hotel room on Saturday, and we could see how things go...if that happens, the upside is that we'll be able to attend on Monday! Otherwise, we might've had to miss Labor Day, as he would have to get back to work (running your own business is a pain sometimes!) Pray to whatever ye gods for a quick passing through of Ernesto and an even quicker drying of the land! I slipped and slid quite a bit last season...and don't have good balance, so I might be doing a "Dammiana" or two myself if it gets too boggy!
