Oh, Tigerlily, if you sipped out of Magpie's straw then you've swapped spit with several of us. That makes us practically sisters...I'm found in the Pyrates Royale encampment most of the day -- the not so tall, not very slender blonde in black and red.
You only have to steel yourself to say one thing "Hi, I'm tigerlily from the board" and say it to any one of us. Then you're done, 'cause it will just roll from there.
Of course, if you want to be novel, you can sneak up behind Amras and give him a hug, 'cause he probably deserves one.
And you can sneak up behind Black Fox and give him a kick in the butt, 'cause no doubt he deserves one. (luv ya babe...)

Tigerlily, it's nice to have you here and many congrats on your upcoming nuptuals. I'm Annabelle, as you can see <------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyhoo, don't think that you are any different then the rest of us when it comes to being overwhelmed by meeting the group. I drove in on opening day last year, saw the group (we are hard to miss), started walking toward them (with mom, cousin, niece, and sister in tow) got about 5 rows away, turned around and said, "I'm going home, I CAN'T do this." I had met Fox the year before but he was the only one I knew, so I saw him outisde opening gate, told him I just couldn't meet everyone (at this point I was literally shaking in fear) and went along with my day. At the opening day pics, Fox SCREAMED my name at the top of his lungs..."HEY LOOK IT'S ANNABELLE, ISN'T SHE JUST CUTE!!! SHE LOVES TO BE STARED AT AND TALKED TO!!" I was mortified, I looked at my sis and said, "Ok, time to go now". I didn't and although it took me another two weeks to finally get the nerve to talk to our wonderful Captain Chelle, she is one of my best friends now and I consider myself a part of this terrific "Fairemily". Heck, I was even social director for a while, before my personal life took over and I had to resign. Now it's an open group joke about how "shy" I am. I'm one of the first people to yell out if I recognize a face. These people are terrific, they expect nothing from you but to be yourself. Enjoy it! Don't let the whole season pass you by before you take the opportunity to meet more of us. And fear not, if I can enlarge that pic and recognize your face, when I do make it to Faire, I will bellow at you from wherever I may see you. Huzzah Tigerlily, and Welcome!!

I swear to GOD, if I keep hitting that danged 'post reply' button before I compose my reply, I'ma gonna smack myself silly!! Thank you so much, lovely AND shy Annabelle, for not only the congrats on the nuptials, but now terrifying me!! Okay, fine, blow up my picture, identify me, draw all kinds of attention to me...I'll pretend that I don't know who you're hollering at and then won't YOU feel silly? ;D....OR, I could do something horrific in return, run up to you, slam myself into you and give you a huge full body hug! (and we know everybody here would love to see something like that!) Seriously, I really do appreciate your kind words and reassurances. I'm sure everybody here is wonderfully kind and welcoming...I just don't know what's wrong with me?! I'm glad to know of your first-time experience...WITH THE GROUP (let me clarify!)....I feel that I'm truly in good company now. Now....if you could only do something about my fiance, who is even shier (shire?...shy-er?) than me! OY!

I guess you were talking about me trying on the dress? Um, nope, sorry, wasn't me...maybe you meant someone else? I tried on 2 dresses that day...one was at the shop (uh, darn, where was it?....not far from the big hammer thingy where you try to ring the bell...sort of across from that)...yes, I've been going to faire for 3 years now and still don't know what everything's called....I tried on one ensemble that consisted of a burgundy underskirt, velvet overskirt with matching bodice and sleevery (whatever THAT is called...) I wound up then at Nobless and even though I wouldn't normally spend that much $$ on garb, it WAS my wedding dress, so I figured I'd splurge. I will, however, keep my eyes peeled for you and other folks here and WILL be brave, I will, I will, I will! Nobless? eeck! ::trying REALLY hard to behave and not say anything bad::

(or should I call you 'Mistress'? ) I will try to follow your advice and keep my eyes peeled for you. To know that Amras so promotes your advice must mean that you are one very wise woman! Magpie DID introduce me to Qadthane...uh, er...AL...forgot to mention that...so guess she got the ball rolling a little there. AND I did find myself and K (he definitely needs a rennie name) talking at the White Hart to a very nice couple, but we have no idea who the heck they were...so we CAN do it...guess maybe it's the fear of breaking into a GROUP of some sort...maybe it has to do with fear of organized groups, bringing up my fear and distastes for things organized...religion, civic organizations, closets, cabinets, cupboards... ....rambling on...have a lovely day!

At the opening day pics, Fox SCREAMED my name at the top of his lungs..."HEY LOOK IT'S ANNABELLE, ISN'T SHE JUST CUTE!!! SHE LOVES TO BE STARED AT AND TALKED TO!!" It will be so fun. . . . I'm just waiting to yell: "HEY LOOK IT'S TIGERLILLY, ISN'T SHE JUST CUTE!!! SHE LOVES TO BE STARED AT AND TALKED TO!!" As the scholar Buggs E. Bunny once said, "I'm a Stinker, Aint I."

Why do I get the feeling that you're just rubbing your hands together in evil glee, Fox? I sense a conspiracy...sheesh, I shoulda stayed quiet and invisible....shoulda, coulda, woulda...or maybe the armchair psychiatrist that lives inside me would say that maybe I'm truly NOT shy and DO want to meet folks....hmmmmmm

*will NOT break into pop psychology. Yet* Just as a quick note, if anyone sees and recognizes me and wonders why I don't come over and play, it is probably because I don't recognize you. Nothing personal, I just have no ability to recognize faces, especially since I probably see most of you at the end of the day when I'm exhausted, there's a cloud of dust in the air, I'm not wearing my contacts, and in all likelihood, have tossed away a cider or two already. I'm am that girl in the back of the White Hart during pubsing, usually in a poorly made red and black dress, clutching a cider at every moment. Honest, feel free to come up and be like, "Yo. Dammiana. What's the word?" I promise I am friendly. And if you listen closely, you can often hear me mention something about wanting to "tap that."

Darn, why didn't I think of using the ol' "I can't recognize people 'cause it's the end of the day and my contacts are hurting me and screwing up" excuse? ;D Just joshing with you...I believe you...REALLY! And without my glasses or contacts, I AM as blind as a bat! Thanks for the invite...I have a feeling THIS weekend's gonna be a LOT different from last one!

Ok, Tigerlily, I need to know his name, and will he smack me if I scream at him, and throw my arms around him? LOL!! And full body hug from a gorgeous woman is ok by me. HEAR that Dammiana, I expect a full body hug..hehehe AND I can guarantee Fox is rubbing his hands together in evil glee. Glad to see you are knowing and loving us already. Can't wait to see you!

naa...there isn't something specifically wrong with Nobeless...other than they are extremely over priced. I managed to make one of the "burnout velvet chemises" they sell for $125 (last time I checked) for $20. Also, she tends not to use period materials or period cuts...which you'd expect for prices like those! I know of at least five places (some of which are online, granted) that are far cheaper and sell the same kinda stuff (aka "Ohh! Sparkly!)

I know of at least five places (some of which are online, granted) that are far cheaper and sell the same kinda stuff (aka "Ohh! Sparkly!) /rant Yeah, you're right...prices ARE steep there...as far as period cuts or whatever...well, I am not a seamstress or anybody who really knows anything about the period stuff, so I guess I'm pretty ignorant of those things and tend to just get something that I think looks good. This was my first purchase from there and as it was going to be my wedding dress, I figured spending the $$ I spent there was CONSIDERABLY less than the "period" wedding dresses that I'd seen online (I mean, it's my 2nd time around...I can't and won't spend THOUSANDS of $$! YIKES!) Maybe it's tacky of me, but I am planning on wearing this dress as garb for other weekends, but the 1st time wearing of it will be for my wedding on 09/10 of this year! YAY! I had looked at a couple of other dress options online...specifically the Tudor Shoppe, where I've purchased stuff before (and have been pleased) and found their prices to be "up there" too....they sell a lot of stuff from Sophie's Stitches, which I would buy more directly, but can't manage to find 'em online (always get that "site not found" message when I try to go to the Sofi's site)...anyway...thanks for explaining that...I understand completely and am just glad to know that maybe my dress won't fall apart during the ceremony. ;D

I think the stuff at N.O. is fantastic, and if I was having a Ren-themed wedding I'd be shopping there too! I know it's really important for some people to be historically accurate, but I err on the side of gorgeous-ness!! I bet you will be beautiful and it's not at all tacky to wear your gown again! How many of us would wear our wedding gowns again if we had the chance? I know I would!

(well, burgundy, but who's counting?) In spite of the heat of Saturday, it was quite easy to get in to, even if it WAS velvet! But it's a simple thing, just a single dress, without a bodice or extra skirting or anything...looked kind of ordinary on the hanger, but when I tried it on, I was quite impressed! As much as I love my skirts and bodices, I'm looking foward to not having to futz so much with all of that on next Sunday!

". . .but the 1st time wearing of it will be for my wedding on 09/10 of this year! " September 10th? Like, next weekend!?! Wow! You seem so calm. You're getting married at the chapel, right? Ooh, I hope we get to see you in your glorious dress on your glorious day! My hubby and I celebrate our 20th next year. I'm trying to talk him into a renewal ceremony at Revel Grove, but he's tempting me with a trip to Scotland! I think that's how I ended up in this married state -- tempted!
