...that you didn't do this year? (okay, so this is partly just an excuse to post here because it exists, but I am curious) I want to see the Witch Trial. Because I still haven't. I want to see Wolgemut (please please please let them come back!). I want to see Johnny Fox (still haven't. Oy.). I want to eat a turkey leg. (Completely managed not to have one all season). Oooh, and a pecan tart.

I just want to have as great a year as I did this one...
and see the Cercamon boys come back...
and find a cigar for Cigar that gets him even more tickled than the one I got him this year...
and discover a way to run a little better on next to no sleep!!!
and maybe check out Johnny Fox 'cause I haven't seen his show..

My 2 cents' worth...I want to.... Stay for a real pub sing...usually at the end of the day, we're too darned tired or have to have hit the road already... See Hilby from start to finish... See a rat pucking.... Watch more of Shakespeare's Skum (this year I was distracted by life at the White Hart) Make it to EVERY weekend, ESPECIALLY Celtic weekend! (missed it this year, darnitall!!) Make lotsa $$ so I can blow it at faire!! YAY!!

Yes, yes!! Get there on time!!! Yesterday was the EARLIEST we've ever arrived at faire and we still didn't get there until around 10:30 am and then, of course, there's the obligatory 20-30 minutes additional in the parking lot for garbing...urgh!
And yes, again...NOT get shusshed! (I'm still seething over that one! OY!) Oh well...and of course, we KNOW you will not behave yourself, Sam! hahahahaha!!!

First, hi all. I'm a newb to the boards. Second, my plans for next year: pack a cooler. I think the Faire should be treated like any other outdoor event. LOL! Definitely need to tailgate. Why? 1. Fun people before and after. and 2. Who wants to sit in post-faire traffic!? Definitely need the Igloo. Also, will begin bringing a picnic basket. I love the food there, but it will save me money to buy pretties...and clothes...who needs the mall?

What to do different? Hmmm. Hug everyone more ... the time went by too quickly! Smoke more cigars with Jen & Sam .... WOW! Try to see at least one show ... pub sing doesn't count. Loma and I reflected on the season and realized we didn't watch one show .... the great side is that it left more time with our buddies, which is more important.

Welcome to our stompin' grounds away from faire Jenilynn! Hope you had a good season! As to what to do next year...so many things! Be able to go more than twice! See more people! Soo many of you I didn't get to see . Actually be able to hang out more with folks instead of just "hello/goodbye,gotta run." See more shows in addition to the ones I usually go to. I did manage to see Johnny Fox this year. Do more window shopping, or actual purchasing for that matter. Maybe get to know some of the vendors. Go on a scavenger hunt looking for all the different architectual stuff Brambleberry has pointed out. Sample more foodstuffs.

Okay, lemme see... next year...
I will also pack a picnic basket. The food is great at the fest but it does put a dent in the budget.
I will save all year to buy new garb.
I will sit up front for fight school because the one time I saw it this year we were way in the back and had a hard time seeing the action.
I will also see Hilby, because after three years of going to MDRF I still haven't made it to his show!!
I will comandeer a table at the White Hart as early as possible so we have a good seat for socializing and pub sing.
My other plan for next year is to stay up in PA for a whole weekend and check out THEIR festival.
It was a great year and FOMDRF made it so fun! I really should have gotten to know you guys earlier in the season but I'll make up for it next year!!

LOL...commandeering tables...To me, that's kind of like a big red wall in one's home. Great in theory. But, those dang (not the Lt.) skinny seats hurt my behind. I'm sorry, I have a big butt. Fuggedabouddit. Me, I've been sitting on those nice rocks at the back all season. And standing and dancing and enjoying. Not to mention, pulling up some space on the side of the stage by the wall during pub sing. I've had LOADS of fun. This is probably my best season to date. I have one more goal: getting some ovarian fortitude and actually speaking to EJ Jones. Some bands are untouchable. Why am I such a pansy? I've never been backward about being forward!? Gads...someone, just kick me in the rear. Please.

Well, having no idea at all what next year will hold for me... Assuming I'm there either as a patron or a performer I really want to see other people's shows. And get to know people. And get a pair of salwar/pants that doesn't try to kill me on a regular basis.

My new faire year's resolutions:
Make it on more weekends
Meet more of you guys
Stay until pub sing is over
Make it at least one weekend to the PA Ren Faire
Hug more people (I'm with you Scotsman)
Hug the REAL Jack Sparrow more
Start a nursing home for old Rennies so when I reach that certain age, and they no longer let me drive or carry a sword, I can sit in the hall surrounded by other retired Rennies and we can joust in our wheelchairs!

Hmmmm... 1. Meet many more FotMDRF'ers 2. Attend VARF more than one day and get to PARF also. 3. Become a Ratpucker 4. Get me video recording device workin', so I can capture 'live' memories as well as images. 5. See the Celtic Weekend events, like the caber toss. I missed it this year. (If anyone is interested in what the caber toss is, here's a link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caber_tossThat's all I can think of now, but i am sure there is much more

Wow...good topic...dragged me straight out of lurkdom! Scary!
Next Year's Resolutions:
Save Money -- Go More!
Go earlier in the season so that I can BUY the stuff that's always gone when I go back...
See MORE shows -- Hubby and I always make the O'Danny/Rogue/Pyrate circuit (and Puke and Snot, when they're there) -- I'd like to see something new. I had a list this year... (wistful sigh)
How do I say this one nicely? Ah! Coordinate better with friends. It's lovely to be the "People who know all about the Faire", so all of our non-Ren-friends flock to us on the one or two weekends that they go to Faire, but spending the entire day coordinating, shepherding, and explaining is not only exhausting, it means we don't get to see anything ourselves! And when we have limited funds, meaning limited weekends, our friends end up having the times of their lives, and hubby and I look at each other and say, "But we meant to..." We'll do a better job next year. :-)
Find new things to eat! Pecan tarts? I didn't know there were pecan tarts! Yum!
Take more pictures -- usually, I don't even THINK about the camera in my pouch, I'm so busy laughing/dancing/singing/having a wonderful time
And of course, meet more of you! (Okay, ANY of you). I do know who some of you are, from the boards, and pics, but for some reason, I have ISSUES with going up and saying, "Hi, I'm Akela, and I'm a lurker." It seems rude somehow (but, for some reason, whispering to hubby, "That's Sir Black Fox in the first row" is just fine...)

Things I'm going to do next year: Get a season ticket! It has to be cheaper! Spend more time with friends. Friends make faire so much better and I've made quite a few new ones this season. Spent time with them once they were made but next season can spend much more time. Go more than once to PARF Will probably be on cast for VARF so will be there for the full season if that is the case go to a few more faires. Got to NCRF, VARF, MDRF, PARF and CRF this year. Yeah and hug more people.
