This is a friendly reminder for those who are members or who know a member that has not voted to please go to the site and vote. We are in second, nine votes from MN who is in first.

Because I don't feel like causing any more angst over at the main board I just want to momentarily gripe about how it feels like, if they hadn't decided in the middle of it that people were allowed to change their votes, we might have actually won.
MN probably would have won anyway, but I'm just vaguely annoyed about it because that's the sort of thing that should have been decided BEFORE voting was opened.

Couldn't agree more with you on that one! That's like holding an election and giving permission to stuff the ballot box. Once that can of worms was opened and DB had all the phone numbers and such, he just went to town. Oh well, look at the bright side, we'll be a shoe-in for 2008 Rendevous! Besides, I'm sure we'll have our own unofficial Rendevous here anyway.

We fought a good fight, but powers greater than us were at work. As I ponder 2008, I am not so sure that we will get it. I really depends on if we have another vote or not. I would imagine if there is another vote - all those folks who voted MN will vote Ohio to keep it close to them. Time will tell.

None of the candidates for 2007 will be candidates for 2008. :(It was decided that the next Rendevouz would take place on or about ten months from the previous. That is why only Aug-Sep faires were up this time. For 2008 it should be june-july faires, april-may for 2009 and so on ...A faire that serves as host in banned from hosting again for 10 yrs. This is of course unless they start changing the rules again On a positive note, I am sure that there will be quite a few that won't make it to MN or that will make it to our neck of the woods at some point. Mayhaps in a few months, once the ball is rolling on the rendevous, we can try and see who will be coming when and based on that maybe plan something.

Ouch! I did not get all that info from the onset, but no matter. I have been watching the MNRF thread on R/F.com and it looks like chaos! There is trouble deciding when and how to have the RenDevous. I plan to go ... I wanted to get to MNRF anyway ... I just hope that it isn't over Labor Day weekend, usually we have a good invasion that weekend. Time has a way of ironing all these things out.

Timing is why the "push" of NCRF for 2009. If the calendars hold, I know for sure that I cannot make it to MN unless they do it their opening weekend. The rest of their season is concurrent with MDRF and I have every intention to be part of the cast of MDRF again. It might have been work and have one or two disadvantages but it was a lot of fun and I would not miss that priviledge. Time will tell.....

Well as I understood what they were saying, the 10 month window was merely a suggested window not a mandatory other than as for a minimum timeframe between Rendevouses. I think that we should still have a shot for 2008. The big thing for next time voting is that all rules should be set up front and NOT changed in the middle. PERIOD. If you voted for the wrong faire, TOO BAD! Scotsman makes a good point on Ohio but we'll have to wait to see. Hey I'm up for our own invasion this season. Once MNRF sets the Rendevous date lets set our own and go for it. Many people who voted for us or Ohio said they were coming to MDRF anyway so let's get it together and have great weekend. The KOA is a great place to get together for those of us who camp. I'm willing to help plan the event so let's seriously thing on it.

Sounds like a grand idea! I am more than up for camping and hanging out next season. It is always a shame that at closing cannon most people go there seperate ways and I am still in the mood for merriment!!

Master James, your proposal is tempting to say the least. I always err on the side of caution. Many of those folk (not all) have ties to us and I would hate to put folks in a bind by picking one faire over another. We could start a feud that I quite frankly am not comfortable with. Like you brother, I travel to many faires and would hate to be unwelcome at any. I am all for an invasion here, as well as taking care of our invaders. Once MN get off their ass and announces the date it will make it easier for us to plan something. From their chatter it looks like Labor Day is out so I am thinking that we could post an invitation for that weekend ... we just have to be careful on how we present it. Like many of you, I do not like the way the voting went, frankly it was crap! One thing that we can be sure of is that we did it right. We lost yes, but my conscious is clear. I figure since the rules changed so many times throughout the voting, nothing is cast in stone. Therefore I see no reason the RenDevous could not be here next year ... the vote said everything, people want to come to our faire - I will do everything in my power to see that happen. Time will iron all this out.

Believe me my friend, I do not want to start feud. I just think that once MNRF sets the weekend for Rendevous, we offer a simple invasion for anyone who is interested. I do not want to set up a competing event in anyway, simply a weekend where all who are interested could attend and have somethings to do after the final cannon sounds on Saturday and maybe on Friday as well. I'm not talking huge extravaganza like we'll do next year when we win Rendevous, just something though. What do you all think?

From their chatter it looks like Labor Day is out so I am thinking that we could post an invitation for that weekend ... we just have to be careful on how we present it. This is what I had thought. Once the Rendevous is announced, we could start a thread just like we have done in the past, doing roll call. Based on this we might find that most people are coming a certain weekend and then we as hosts can offer a meet-n-greet, offer to get discounted tix for those coming, etc. We are not competing with the rendevous, we are simply ensuring that those who are coming to MDRF anyway will get to at least say hello and maybe raise a glass.

So I've started looking for a place, VA has finally gotten too expensive for me to stay; but not a SERIOUS search... So hopefully by faire next year I'll have a kewl little place where a couple heads can crash!! ::crossing fingers::

Yes, it is true, I still breath... I did indeed vote for Revel Grove, of course, but did not expect it to win. I have always thought that the idea of setting one weekend aside for any R/Frs who wanted to have an "official unofficial" meet and greet in Crownsville is a great idea. We had a blast with "Ettes this season on just such an occasion. As usual, this upcoming season, any weekend will be a rendesvous weekend for us!! And, may I just say, the news of a possible move by Jenniferlynn to AA County has caused quite a bit of interest by the liquor stores, tobaconists, as well as the emergency response teams... Hope you make it here, lass...its a good place to live.

From the looks on "the other board" the date for Rendevous is heating up. People want to know the date, as do I, and MN folks want to wait until after the new year. So much for planning.
