BF, you are a sick, sick man to take such pleasure in our dismay that festival will end. Futile as keeping the sun from setting over the Jousting Field, indeed the festival will end, however, as certain as the sun rising over the Gatehouse Stage, so will it come again!! (hoping I have my directions right!) Just be careful, or I'll sick Fight School on you!!

Are we all ready for this?
When Cyn and I started this group back in 2002 it was out of that "newbie" love of MDRF. We were at the end of the 3-year seasoning and were captivated by the magic that kept us coming back.
I really didn't want the festival to be over and so I started a Yahoo newgroup called "Friends of MDRF" with only a handful of folks participating. We shared stories and photos, dreams and experiences. But most of all we wanted to share the atmosphere of being at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. From the feel of woodchips under our feet to the smell of steak-on-a-stake, we enjoyed sharing the magic.
This is the end of our eighth season at MDRF and we STILL enjoy sharing the memories with folks who've just started enjoying the festival AND with 20+-year-veterans. It's the friendship of sharing that makes the magic, m'thinks.
So if you see a Klingon-Pyrate with tears rolling down his cheeks at PubSing on Sunday night, just an hour or so before it's all over. . . . understand that I'm emotional not because the season's over, but in joy that I got to share it with so many fantastic friends.
I love you folks. . . don't often show it because it lies behind the smart-ass persona, but it's there. . . and I can't wait to be in your presence again. . .sharing a cider or an ale next to Manny at The White Hart Tavern.

What can I say to that? Um, nothing smart-assed or cutesy, for sure. Just know that we're thankful to you, BF, and to Cyn, and all of the other wonderful people we've met here for the friendship and for enhancing our MDRF experiences more than we could've imagined. Oh, it's not over yet...Kendall and I are planning on renewing our vows on Sunday and we hope everybody who wants to will be there celebrating with us. There'll be a reception for all the renew-ees at the White Hart following the ceremony (which will be held at the Royal Stage at 11am, officiated by Sinnius Vice himself!)...we will definitely be seeing everybody that we can this weekend! In spite of my griping about dust, allergies, heat, crowds, and rude danes, MDRF is still a magical and wonderful place AND experience! We love you all here and are certainly looking forward to next MDRF season! Thanks, BF and Cyn, for creating this haven...we'd be lost without ye!

I LOVE you guys!!

We'd be down for a Christmas time thing. Don't forget that Team Wench is doing a Dickens Tea fund raiser this year too if anyone wants to go check out their site.

Well......it's all over folks! This hasn't been the best season for my family, since we only made it a whopping ONE time! Time has not been our friend due to Becca's marching band schedule. We've missed MDRF like crazy, but have also had loads of fun with band, those kids put on an amazing show that won them 1st Place last night in a USSBA Division 2a MD State Championship! (Sorry, proud mama had to boast a bit!) Yes, we've become band geeks! Hopefully we'll be able to organize our schedule better next year... Anyhow.... I won't despair that festival is over, instead I'll keep great memories of our visit- Finally getting my husband Sid to go with us to experience firsthand why we love MDRF...chasing down Black Fox to receive my FIRST ever pin for my garb....watching Fight School with and hanging out for a few with Lady Ravenwolves and the young Captain. Festival isn't complete until I say Hi to the Clan! By the way Steph, if you see this, good luck on your upcoming "cruise". I know how difficult it will be leaving your family for so long. In case I never mentioned it, THANK YOU for your service to our country! Love ya , take care! Meeting you- Tigerlily and Kendall was a Huge highlight for me, even though it was only for a couple minutes. I feel like I know you guys and "hang out" with you more here than I do my non-faire friends! That goes for most folks here! Hopefully next year I'll meet the rest of the SDW entourage- and many more Friends. I won't give up on getting a fairever pass! So, like I said, I won't despair, I'll just move on with life knowing that Revel Grove will still be there waiting for me next year. Then there's here. I hope you folks'll continue to hang around! I check in here most every day all year long, and love chit chatting, so let's try not to let it turn into a graveyard, ok? It bears repeating, so I'll say it again- Thank You Steve for all you do to keep this place running for us. You've often said its a labor of love, but I know it hasn't always been easy, and it is soo appreciated! I probably never would have broken out of my shell and taken fest to another level if I hadn't joined this group in July of 05! It's so great to have a place to hang out in the off season. So, here's a big HUZZAH to you, and to all my Friends! Hope everyone had a great season!
