As some of you know since we have spoken at faire, my surgery was at the beginning of August. I am back at faire since I am able to wear my backbrace underneath my dress, but this post is not for me, but for my soulmate.
Back in February, Sir Dragon had a tumor removed from his colon which turned out to be malignant. The surgery was followed by chemo which he ended at the beginning of September. Two weeks ago we learned that while on chemo, the cancer came back and he has a tumor on the lymph nodes in his abdomen. We were told that it is incurable and inoperable. The tumor is big and putting pressure on his liver, his stomach and his intestines. This caused a blockage of his bile duct resulting in jaundice. He underwent a procedure to correct this last Friday. The plan is to start a more aggressive chemo (hopefully this Friday) to see if it stops growing and goes into remision.
My plea is as follows: I don't really care what or who you believe in, all I ask is that you pray or whatever to whatever/whomever you believe so that we are successful in this.

Know that we're there with Ron. It was wonderful to give him a hug and a handshake this past Saturday and even in all his pain when asked he replied, "I've seen better days."
His wit seeped through with a small smile and he told both Cyn and I that he'd hoped we'd come by because he hadn't seen us in a while. Ron's a wonderful man and a good friend and when asked he's always been there.
Thus we're here for him. Please let him know that prayers/thoughts/wishes and most of all love are sent his way and yours m'lady.
We love you both so much.

Lady Glorianna, I'm so sorry to hear this. I've yet to meet you and Sir Dragon, but I've followed all of your posts here and on RF about your surgery and Sir Dragons' illness. I'll continue to hope and pray for you both.

Gloria, I didn't know that Ron was also ill. My prayers and thoughts are so much with him and both of you. Ron has always been so kind and helpful and I've appreciated his wit and sense of humor. And I've learned a great deal about mapmaking, seagoing navigation (the problem of longitude) and timekeeping, 16th century Spain (Ron was a Godsend when I was Spanish ambassador a couple of years ago) and so much else. Here is hoping for a speeding recovery and many more times kibbitzing with him at Hengrave and the two of you in the Court and throughout the village. -John

As I've said before and still believe, Ron is a strong man and I KNOW he will beat this. My continued thoughts and prayers are with both him and you through this difficult time.

I am new here, but I too have a few simple words to add. My better half works in this field it is brutal, and a burden but it is NOT HOPELESS. Remain hopeful and cheerful when able. Draw on the support of your friends and family. And may our prayers travel with you.

I'm sorry I haven't posted about this here or elsewhere any sooner, but I really don't know what to say in these situations that doesn't require me to don my Captain Obvious leotard and cape. There's only so many times you can repeat words that the board sensor would substitute for anyways. If there's anything Flo or I can do, please let us know.

Well, we saw the doctor last week and he says that if Sir dragon does not respond to treatment he has three months if he does respond he has a year. He is starting the new chemo tomorrow. Many ask what to say or do? Just pray to whatever/whomever that he responds and that by some miracle he overcomes this. Other than that, whenever you do see him, keep saying how good he looks and how good is to see him. You won't believe how good it makes him feel to feel noticed, appreciated and that people other than me care.

Just a quick update
In his own words: "Hay all, I'm still here. I'm not doing much but surviving day to day, not the best way to spend my life.
I've got massive chemotherapy so I lost all my hair. Got a permanent port put in to make things easier for the nurses. Occasionally I need transfusions to help with the red blood counts. Nuf said."
He had a scan yesterday to determine how effective the chemo has been and to see if any adjustments are needed. We should know either today or on his next doctor's appointment in two weeks.

Thank you for the update, both of you are still in my thoughts . There is nothing happy about surviving day to day but at least he is surviving and I hope that the holidays are full of good news and hope.
