We've come a long way since my favorite Cap'n Chelle, NoirCyn, SirThomas and myself began a Yahoo Group called "Friends of MDRF." A few hundred folks and six years later here we are celebrating another fun-filled season at The Maryland Renaissance Festival. (our history is at: www.friendsofmdrf.org/FOMDRF/history.html it scrolls upward so wait for it) We're going to do some meetin' and greetin' at The White Hart Tavern all day long, every day of festival! Our pyrate vessel, The Polly Dodger, has usually usurped a picnic table at the inn so look for a pod of pyrates near Manny the deer and that'll probably be us. If you need to leave a message for one of us FoMDRF'ers, you can leave it with Cap'n Chelle, our "Friend of the Season" this year. We all tend to gravitate back to that table so you'll be sure we'll get it. We'll also be having our customary first group photo of the season which we'll also probably do near the SHADED area by the PD table. Stay tuned for more information on that! Anyway with hundreds of folks in our membership and thousands of hits per day, traffic to our sites is rising as MDRF gets closer and probably won't slow down till sometime after Hallowe'en. I want to take the time to thank all our friends of MDRF. Thanx muchly, Steve "Sir Black Fox" Kimball Founder, The Original Friends of MDRF www.friendsofmdrf.org

I am soooo ready to see you guys again at the Festival (wasn't that in a Star Trek episode?) -- I think I'm going to burst. Just a couple more deadlines to get out of the way, then

Wait have I ever been there? Oh yeah that's right it's the place that I keep pissing off the mundanes at because I never leave my table. Silly civies, I have the right to put down a table cloth. I never wander around aimlessly trying to find the King. He knows where he can find me if he wants me.

Never shushed. I think they are to afraid of Jeff to go that far. He can be intimidating when he wants to be, but we all know he's really just a pushover disguised as the burly pirate on the motorcycle.

Gosh, one time I got shushed by someone and it wasn't even in a bar or at a show. I was talking to someone over by the Globe, standing far enough away from the very back seats to be considered out in the lanes and not part of the audience, and we still got shushed, rather rudely. We played nice-just muttered sorry, and moved off, but I really wanted to say "excuse me people, but this is not like an indoor auditorium, where you're enclosed and everyone is watching the same thing." Now mind you, I try to be courteous, but geez, intrusive noise is to be expected, it is an open outdoor event after all! Oh well, renfest is too much fun to let the little stuff bother you. Hey, maybe I can get shushed with you girls some time! ;D

Were you talking amongst yourselves or actually singing along? I've had people give me strange looks at VARF just for singing along with the act, as if I'm disrupting it somehow. I wonder how many of these people ask the usher at midnight showings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show to do something about all the people yelling and throwing things so they can "watch the show".

I wonder how many of these people ask the usher at midnight showings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show to do something about all the people yelling and throwing things so they can "watch the show". I think it may have been just conversation like who wanted a drink and who was getting the next round and all the good lookin' men running around... Just chatting - and not like all loud or anything...
One thing I don't have an issue with - if you're going to sit there n' shush me in such a manner, guess what, rude is coming right back at cha... Shush me in a bar - get outta dodge!! You have complete permission to shush me in a movie, but at Faire!?!?!
I think she needed to do a little brushin up on her 'Go get some' department... Lot of pent up tension ;D
IT'S JUST A JUMP TO THE LEFT, AND THEN A STEP TO THE RIII -IIIGHT - PUT YOUR HANDS ON YOUR HIPS AND PULL YOUR KNEES IN TIGHT!!!!!
