Should you be up to it, we will be at VARF this weekend (31 May) and also the weekend of 14 June. A great way to get your faire fix for the spring!

What Scotsman said. I'm there every weekend (for obvious reasons) and I have yet to go a day where I haven't seen somebody from this board down at VARF.

Ok, here is the long term forcast per the Farmer's Almanac: August 2008 1st-3rd Very hot and sultry weather: heat indices of 105 to 110! 4th-7th Wet weather arrives, followed by clearing. 8th-11th Fair skies. 12th-15th Stormy weather spreads north from Mid-Atlantic States. A tropical disturbance could take a swipe at Cape Cod and the islands. 16th-19th Fair skies. 20th-23rd Showers through Connecticut, Massachusetts into Maine, then fair and pleasant. Thunderstorms for Mid-Atlantic States, followed by clearing. 24th-27th Turning stormy. 28th-31st Fair skies So if I am reading this correctly, hopefully the very hot and sultry weather we had last season for opening weekend will not be repeating itself.

yeah, I definitely don't want to see a t-shirt for another broken record - not that the shirts weren't awesome, but man, I don't think I can survive an entire day hotter than that... seriously... I'd rather it rain all day...

I know the feeling. Took the first duffle of garb and accessories up to the folks house in Maryland a short bit ago and now I have a second load to bring up there. All that is left is a few skirt length alterations to my new noble garb. still can't believe its so close yet so far.

I am getting help from family and just using the iron on stuff because I don't have the patience or the working machine to sew it well enough myself. But I also have to outfit some very petite friends of my roommate who are making their first festival trek. Then there is the helping my roommate at faire decide on a bodice to purchase. Now if only the schedule of shows was up so I could plan the weekends I am going and what I intend to see those days.

I didn't mean to be cruel(snicker). . . I was just being a realist(cough) and a un-sarcastic(choke) wonderful(pfffbbtt) person. OK. . . truth be known, I just like to be slapped around by hot women in bodices the first day of MDRF. . . . am I THAT transparent?

I can't believe there's only 16 days left!!! I'm now doing my pre-faire ritual where I check the Annapolis weather forecast every a.m. They have a 15 day forecast and usually are pretty accurate (provided the weather gods don't decide to change their minds)...it's looking like it's gonna be warm, but hopefully there won't be heat advisories this year like last year's opening weekend.

Hopefully we won't see people getting sick over booth sides and being carried out in stretchers this year on opening weekend either. we want everyone to survive the heat this year. the ever important pewter mug full of ice is a necessity if the heat goes blazing out of control again. We are almost there just a short more weeks or is it lengthy weeks depending on how work goes for people that is.

I honestly thought I was gonna have to call one of those ambulances for hubby. I made him sit under a little tree at the front gate area while I fetched the car for him (thank God, it wasn't too far away!) Later, I heard all of the horror stories about folks getting hauled away by ambulance and believe me, we didn't have a hard time imagining that!! Faire will probably get here pretty quickly for us...we're slammed with work (thank ye gods!!) which will make the next coupla weeks fly by! Hope to see everyone soon! YAY!!

The friend I was attending with thought I was going to go down at one point and i was only in bodice, one skirt and a tank top to keep cool, garb wise opening day. But surprisingly we lasted from opening till about 4 or 5 before me being the driver of the crew said enough is enough. As for work mine goes slow at times fast at others but with community theater group shows to attending, PA's Renaissance Festival to attend the week after MD's opening august is going to barrel down and past me in a blink of an eye I think. That gas just needs to keep coming down in price and all will be well.
