Does anyone know how long you can leave a checked bag on the baggage claim carrousel before it’s hauled off to some unclaimed baggage/ lost and found? And how much of a hassle is it to get your bag after that point?
Situation:
My boyfriend and I will both be traveling for work the week before closing weekend of Maryland Renaissance Festival..
He’ll be flying from Madison, Wisconsin back home to Philly. I’ll be flying from Chicago to Philly where we’ll meet his car will me parked at the airport, and drive to Maryland together.
My question: If I happen to have a flight that lands in Philly a few hours before him, once you get last the security check point, there’s really nowhere to relax or eat. So if I were to want to wait for him in the airport for an hour of two, and meet him at the terminal, will my checked bag be OK?

My experience is they leave it on for 3 flights then remove it to the CS office. All you need to claim it is photo ID and your claim stub. It does vary from airport and airline. Usually the biggest hassle is finding an agent to unlock/retrieve your bag. No big deal.
