OK, I'm stoked... I'll be there early, squirrel mobile covered in parking field mud, lounge chair sittin' with banners flyin', coffee sippin', watching Scribbles cinch up bodices, bag pipe listenin', bodhran tippin', frozen chocolate eclair munchin', wee jammin' it up with Black Fox, passin' out apple fritters, fastening that mug on the belt just so, marvelin' at how wonderful the air smells and how bright the sky seems, huggin' friends old, new and strange, hoopin' and hollerin' in magnificent ren-ticipation...who's with me? Lest I forget, in 2006, the friendly contest between Chelle and I to see who gets the parking space closest to the gate will continue ...I think we tied this year...

you know captain has to have the best parking space in the land. But sometimes it doesnt always work that way. You know.. you're supposed to save us a spot and then move and get your own once you get there. hehe

Fire that cannon and open those gates!! I am already looking for new garb for opening day (maybe I can even snag something new before we go to "Save the Boobies").

Hardtack!! M'lady, you tell a pyrate just what he wants to hear.
Dash, I have some experience at fire direction control with mortars and pack howitzers...got your back!! Turn 'em loose and fire for effect, anytime!
I can almost see that gate opening, and Stupina's smiling face now...

Heee! I'm a people-pleaser. A PYRATE-people-pleaser.
Just recently started making the joy that is hardtack. I whipped up my first batch as refreshments for the Pirate Club on campus. We invaded the Libertarian Club that night. It was HILARIOUS. I actually had to make a second batch that night as my flatmates and frends kept eating all of the first batch!

(meekly tip toeing in so as not to cause too much of a stir...) I know it's been since the mid sixteenth century since I last checked in....but I too am PSYCHED about opening weekend. And since the Pentagon no longer has a claim to any of my weekends, wild carnies couldn't keep me away!

*Amras hides wild carnie garb, whistling meekly*
Hello, lass...nothing like being able to tell the Pentagon to go bugger off!
We will fill the back of the Jeep with wonderful tail-gate snacks, and several thermoses full of good, hot joe, all the better with which to legally buzz ourselves!

Huzzah! I'm new to the "friends", just joined the other day actually. I moved to Maryland in 2003 and discovered the Renfest that summer. I didn't even know there was such a thing! I have since become obsessive. I have three costumes, an incredibly expensive pyrate hat, and an unquenchable thirst for meade... Unfortunately, my best friend and fellow "Rennie" is looking into a theatre program that will take her far away and I won't have anyone to accompany me to the fest this year... My husband likes the festival but he's not into staying all day long (silly man) and we have a young daughter who needs regular naps. Sooooo, by August I need to infiltrate myself into your group so I will know other people at the festival and I won't be there all by my poor pitiful self... getting drunk on blueberry bee-stings without friends sort of sucks donkey butt... so I hope you will accept me as one of your own! I may not know the in-jokes but I catch on quickly, I'm funny, and I sing well even while intoxicated! Looking forward to meeting you all!

I, too, am new the the "Friends". I can't believe it took me this long to find you guys. I am sort of in the same boat as my Lady. The whole family loves to go, but few have the staying power that I do. The hubby and the five (soon to be six) year old tucker out by mid-day, while I want to stay 'til Pub Sing. (Okay, my girls want to stay until Pub Sing too, but being an adult with child supervision is constraining. I have to set an example.) I'm looking forward to wearing my new pirate coat on Adventure Weekend. P.S. I'm still trying to figure out how to post an avatar. I'd better ask the kids. TTFN.

to post an avatar you have to actually post a link to a photo thats already online ie in yahoo photo album, or something like photo bucket etc.

There's never a lack of anyone to hang out with once you learn who people are. This place is great!

I was glad when I found this place 'cause I didn't have anyone to play with at faire except my kids. (My husband isn't really into it with me) As much fun as that is, it's still nice to have adult companionship. So, welcome, and have fun! Btw...did you say pirate coat? Sounds like you need to check out the Polly Dodger crew!

I must definitely check out the Polly Dodger! Along with posting an avatar, my posteriorignment is to take a picture in my new pirate coat (to go along with the boots and leather bustier), turn it into an avatar and post that. So much to do. I see there's a Pyrate Invasion coming up in Baltimore. I'll have to check the schedule to see if we can be adults without child supervision that day. I haven't done a pub crawl in a very long time.
