For those of you coming from out of town:
I've got an extra (queen-size!) bedroom. And a loveseat (if somebody tiny wants to curl up on it). And floorspace.
Only one bathroom, though.
Anyway, if'n you're looking for a place to crash, I might be able to help you out.
Just figured I'd toss it out there.

Like M'lady Ana, I also have floor space and a super sized couch. *sorry in the middle of purchasing a much larger house* But be it known, I am nearly an hour and a half away from Faire and usually leave by 7AM. awww.. I can just smell the Blue Moon now!! ;D

Hah, I suppose I should've mentioned I'm about a half hour from Faire. I used to be closer, but then I moved. But now I have room for guests! So...compromise, I suppose.

I'm an hour away so I share in the pain of having to leave a wee bit early... But the looks as I enter Starbuck's in garb are priceless!!!! And I get to get all psyched up for opening gate with my favorite music for an hour!!!!

Um, try THREE hours away...but yes, darlin', you are a delight to view and I'm sure that in your garb in Starbucks first thing in the a.m., folks there won't be needing Starbucks caffeine to wake 'em up! ;D

I know the pain of living an hour away I am from the centreville, VA area but I have the luck of the draw to have family in MD so I trot up friday night and reduce my trip to MDRF by a good amount. But the reactions when entering the coffee shops in the morning are fun too I must admit especially when I was shuttling a friend to work at faire very early. Only way she got me to do it was by paying for my coffee. Then I had to kill nearly 2 hours before faire opened least I know tailgating with this crew is available.

But the looks as I enter Starbuck's in garb are priceless!!!! Try the looks you get when 2 families (4 adults and 3 kids) go to Bob Evans for a full sit down breakfast in garb on a Sunday morning. This was an hour away from any fair, so we were probably the first people ever to eat there in garb. We were heading down to the VA fair one day and hooked up with my sister in law and her family for breakfast before hitting the VA fair. I don't know what we'll do when they come up to meet us for this season. I am just over an hour from fair and they are an hour away from us and not early risers. My kids will be very upset if they miss opening cannon and a Stupina hug to start the day. Yes, I got confirmation that Stupina will be around for the first hour, but after that it takes a lot of work to get Columbina ready for The Interpreters.

We enjoy going to the Giant Food Store in Annapolis on Riva Road...of course, folks are pretty used to seeing garbed cretins and instantly know where we're coming from...they usually say, "You know, I always mean to go out to that faire, but have never done it." I'm thinking, "YOU LIVE HERE AND YOU DON'T GO TO FAIRE!!" What I wouldn't give to live so nearby! Meanwhile, our friends and family here give us polite smiles when we show 'em pics of faire and us in our garb...we know what those looks mean..."Ohhhh,kaaaay....everybody, keep yer distance." ha!

When I cooked at festival I would do my last minute shopping in the morning, and I remember the sound of "Festival has begun" among the cashiers...I have shopped in different period attire, I love the looks of "where did she escape" or the look of "oh, a cult". ;D But there is nothing like stopping for Starbucks in my Chemise!

I put most of "Sir Black Fox" together upon arrival (dressing in the parking lot is all part of the experience). Thus, I always end up filling the truck with gas at some gas station on Rt 40 just in boots, green tights and a T shirt. . . . like some kind of Flashdance-meets-Robin Hood-gone-horribly-wrong fashion experiment.

Well, I get dressed in the costume house on site, so I drive in wearing my civilian attire. But I still get odd looks at Starbucks. Perhaps it's the high heels, fishnet hose, and miniskirt. I mean, it's so 1960's!

Now both of you make me want to see Robin Hood Men in tights and Rocky Horror.
